Alien Envoy
In 2007 Nick released a series of three new songs to radio under the pseudonym Alien Envoy (for whom he also invented a fictitious backstory - see myspace.com/alienenvoy). The songs received some radio play and press coverage before Nick's voice was recognized and Alien Envoy's cover was blown. The songs were Cast Adrift (Without A Compass), 45 and Christmas In The City (Orla's Song). A handful of promotional CDs were pressed up for each of these releases, plus a limited run of 100 vinyl singles for 45.
In May 2010, at the conclusion of his GESTATION project, Nick decided to officially adopt ALIEN ENVOY as the name under which he would release "Nine Lives", the new solo album created over the course of project.
"The whole point of GESTATION was to enable me to try out different things and work with different people, to question my own working methods a bit", Nick explains. "And as I've moved through the process, one thing I've realised is that I really don't want to be perceived as a solo artist or a singer-songwriter. I've become bored with that idea of myself."
"ALIEN ENVOY is my way of being allowed to do things that are more collective and more experimental. And more fun."
